Terms of Service

Terms of service for PDF To Markdown
May 26, 2026

Acceptance

By using PDF To Markdown, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Service Description

PDF To Markdown provides two conversion modes:

  • Regular Mode: Free, browser-based conversion for text-based PDFs. Supports single-file and batch conversion. Files are processed locally and never uploaded.
  • Advanced OCR Mode: Server-side OCR conversion for scanned, image-only, and complex PDFs. Supports single-file and batch conversion. Consumes credits per successfully recognized page.

Both modes support Markdown source preview, rendered preview, copy to clipboard, and .md download. Advanced OCR also supports image extraction (single-file mode) and 24-hour result retention.

Accounts and Credits

Creating an account is required for Advanced OCR. Credits are consumed at 1 credit per successfully recognized page. Credits can be obtained through:

  • Initial grant upon account creation (if offered).
  • One-time credit packs.
  • Monthly subscription plans.

Credits from one-time packs do not expire. Subscription credits reset each billing period. Unused credits are non-refundable and non-transferable unless required by applicable law.

Conversion Limits

Single-file conversion:

  • Anonymous users: 10MB / 50 pages per file.
  • Signed-in users, including subscribers: 20MB / 100 pages per file.

Batch conversion:

  • Anonymous users: up to 5 files, 30MB combined.
  • Signed-in users: up to 20 files, 100MB combined.

Advanced OCR uses the signed-in single-file limit of 20MB / 100 pages. Paid plans and credit packs provide Advanced Pages for OCR usage; they do not change the current file size or page-count limits.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring you have the legal right to process the files you upload.
  • Reviewing conversion output for accuracy before use.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • Not using the service for illegal, abusive, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes.
  • Not attempting to circumvent conversion limits or abuse the credit system.

Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to the PDFs you upload and the Markdown output you generate. We do not claim ownership over your files or conversion results.

Unsupported Content

While Advanced OCR supports scanned PDFs, images, and tables, conversion quality may vary. The following may not convert perfectly: complex multi-column layouts, mathematical formulas, merged table cells, handwritten text, low-resolution scans, and password-protected PDFs.

No Warranty

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. PDF conversion quality depends on the source document structure and content. We do not guarantee that output will be error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDF To Markdown and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to data loss, conversion errors, or service interruptions.

Service Availability

We strive to maintain service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or modify the service for maintenance, security, or other operational reasons.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the website or email where practical. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by applicable laws. Disputes shall be resolved in accordance with local regulations.
